Google Module: MicroDesktop

Purpose:
place icons on a 5x5 desktop-like area of the google personalized page. Each icon has a URL, and it can be moved and edited.
Once the user enters a new URL, the base address is searched, and the file named favicon.ico (if it exists) is used as icon to represent that URL on the desk.
The module stores the information about the icons in a hidden user preference, as a kind of persistence.

A background image can also be set, as a user preference; the default one is 120x100, and animated gifs can be used.
